adidas European Championships
The 2013 European Senior Championships will take place in Budapest. It will be the most important event for the European Judo Union. For the Hungarian Judo Federation organising these championships for individuals and teams are a great reward for the performances of the past and the ambitions of the federation.
Last year Hungary celebrated the first Olympic medal at the Olympic Games since 1992. Eva Csernoviczki won a bronze medal U48kg at the first day. Previously she also won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Chelyabinsk. A day later in London, Miklos Ungvari won a silver medal in the category U66kg. Also 1992 Olympic Champion Antal Kovács witnessed this great performance.
The team of Hungary is extremely talented. Last year Abigel Jóo claimed the European title in Russia by defeating the reigning World Champion. At the Olympic Games she was extremely close to another medal, but due to an injury she couldn’t lift the success even higher. In the end of 2012 she came back after an operation and won the European U23 Championships for the fourth time, a record that last long.
Barna Bor won a beautiful silver medal at the European Championships and the team is talented with the likes of 2009 and 2010 vice World Champion Anett Meszaros, former world medallist Hedvig Karakas. This year Hungary celebrated the European U23 title for Franziska Jerman-Szabo and medals at European Junior and Cadet Championships.
The European Championships in Budapest will be the climax in the history of Hungarian judo. You can witness this experience in judo in April.
