Vicente Carratalá Deval: Many social project in the world to cooperate
Vicente Carratalá Deval of University of Valencia and the Spanish Judo Federation spoke about a study carried out in Spain, in Valencia. Three universities took part.
We wanted to find out things about social integration. The goal was to have a basic tool to carry out a program in a poor area, a three year plan.
Sports brings us in contact with people. In the world there are many studies and people involved in this area such as Nuno Delgado, Yasuhiro Yamashita, Flavio Canto, Ruben Houkes and many more. We need to find a scientific base. We all know the values of our sport, but it has a cultural, educational and sport aspect and all of this has to come together.
Why do parents to do judo? Socialisation is very important aspect, to interact and have physical training. Self control and general training and education are the basic.
We concluded from the study that because of judo they had a better social inclusion, judo gave more space to those who needed more physical training. Also the hygiene was an important factor to improve the habits of the youth and they start to accept the norm of the sports, a part of self control.
