Alex Ives (GBR) won the European junior title in 1974 in Tel Aviv at over 93 kilograms. Ives is now a policeman

Shane Authurs (GBR) won the same European junior title in 1997 but then under 60 kilograms beating Dimitri Bazylev (BLR). Amanda Costello (GBR) and Karina Bryant (in the picture) lost both their finals in Ljubljana.

At the Swedish Open of 2003, three Britons won gold. James Warren at under 66 kgs, Winston Gordon U90 and Debbie Allan U63.
