Junior European Judo Cup Cluj-Napoca 2018

The upcoming weekend will stage the last Junior European Judo Cup ahead of the Junior European Judo Championships. The tournament will take place at Cluj-Napoca and although the numbers are lower than previous weeks, for many, it will still be a make or break for their Continental Championships selection. Altogether, almost 300 athletes from 28 different nation will be visiting the northwest of Romania.

The host nation entered 109 judoka with plenty of medal hopes. The second largest entry comes from Ukraine with 34 athletes. Italy, Moldova and Croatia will put over a dozen of judoka at test. The latter will seek for high likely winnings from Iva OBERAN (-57kg) and Helena VUKOVIC (+78kg). Georgia will bring on their A-Team on both male and female sides. The team also includes Mariam TCHANTURIA (-70kg) and Sophio SOMKHISHVILI (+78kg).

Serbia’s quintet will be a challenge for all with Andrea STOJADINOV (-48kg) and Marica PERISIC (-57kg) on board. As always Kosovo arrives with a small yet robust pair of judoka and medal winning performances will bring surprise to none. Athletes from as far as Canada, Zimbabwe and Mozambique will also join the event. The tournament will start at 10:00 local time on both days and will be held at the Sports Hall Arena. A three-day training camp will follow the event. We wish good luck to all participants.
