TOP-PLAYER: SPAIN'S SHERAZADISHVILI A SHINING EXAMPLE

World Ranking #1: -90kg

Not only does Nikoloz SHERAZADISHVILI (ESP) tower above his opponents with his tremendous height, he is now soaring in the -90kg category World ranking, almost 1500 points ahead of the #2, TOTH Krisztian (HUN).

Not a stranger to the World podium as a junior athlete, SHERAZADISHVILI has used his early years wisely to gain experience on the senior circuit in order to complete a seamless transition. Over the past two years the Spanish athlete has accumulated a number of Grand Prix and Grand Slam medals but most memorably taking a senior bronze medal in the European Championships of this year. His success didn’t end there as he dominated his category in the World Championships in Baku, making history for Spain, becoming their first male World Champion.

The young man continued with further podium positions on the IJF tour taking a silver in the Hague Grand Prix and becoming the Masters Champion in Guangzhou in the IJF  2018 finale. This tenacity and consistency takes him in to 2019 as the number one seed and in a comfortable position in this Olympic qualification period.
