BULGARIA TO HOST 2022 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

During the 2021 European Judo Championships in Lisbon, the traditional flag hand-over ceremony took place. Already an emotional and strong competition for the hosts, it was a pleasure to pass on the baton to a fellow nation.

Accepting the hand-over on behalf of the Bulgarian was president, Mr Roumen Stoilov who is also the recently appointed EJU Education Director.

I feel emotionally uplifted and at the same time responsible for the great honour given to the Bulgarian Judo Federation to host such a large and prestigious forum as the European Championship in 2022. Our preparations are already underway, in full force. We look forward to seeing you in Sofia next year!

With Bulgarian athletes including the 2020 European silver medallist in the -81kg category, Ivaylo Ivanov undoubtedly in the line up for the 2022 it will be a great event for this judo nation to host and welcome the greatest talent from across the continent and anticipate a terrific event.
