DISTRIA KRASNIQI JOINS KOSOVO OLYMPIC COMMITTEE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Two-time Olympic medallist, Distria Krasniqi, has been appointed as a member of the Executive Board of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC) to represent the athletes commission. Krasniqi’s appointment comes as part of the recent General Assembly and Electoral Assembly, where Ismet Krasniqi was re-elected for another four-year term as the President of KOC. In the absence of a rival candidate, assembly members voted by acclamation for Krasniqi’s candidacy.

Expressing his gratitude, President Krasniqi reaffirmed his commitment to cooperation and the development of sports in Kosovo.

The trust you have given me through your vote is not just a mandate, but an honest and sacred contract with you, with the federations you represent, and with the sports community of Kosovo.

Following the re-election of the president, the KOC vice presidents were elected by secret ballot: Milaim Kelmendi (skiing), Arben Fetahu (basketball), Gazmend Maxhuni (triathlon), and Musa Selimi (university sports). In addition to Krasniqi’s appointment, the election results determined the other board members: Besire Domaniku (wrestling), Florian Miftari (basketball), Bahri Gjinovci (volleyball), Avni Nuha (cycling), Vjollca Krasniqi (football) and Teuta Beselica Berbati (rugby).

Furthermore, three additional members were appointed upon the president’s proposal: Fatos Tabaku (judo), Halil Sylejmani (athletics) and Arianit Nikçi (mountaineering and sport climbing).The assembly members also approved President Ismet Krasniqi’s proposal to name former KOC President Besim Hasani as Honorary President.
