It is with great sadness that the Polish Judo Association announced the passing of Kazimierz Jaremczak on 7 May 2025, aged 87, an exceptional judoka, coach, referee, and sports official.
A five-time Polish judo champion and 1965 European bronze medallist, he also won the Polish rugby championship 1960 with Lechia Gdańsk. After retiring from competition, he coached AZS Gdańsk, co-founded KS AZS AWFiS Gdańsk, and became a leading international referee. He refereed at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games and served as Chairman of the Refereeing Commissions for both the EJU and IJF.
From 1990 to 1994, he was President of the Polish Judo Association, helping to shape the sport’s development in Poland. Kazimierz Jaremczak will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to judo and the values he upheld throughout his career. The European Judo Union extend their sincere condolences to his family and the judo community.
