Skopje, Here We Come!

Now that the seniors have concluded the highest-ranked event of the year, the World Judo Championships, it is time to turn our attention to the youth, the future of our sport. As the stage is dismantled in Budapest, preparations are already well underway in Skopje.

The current entry list for the Millennium Team European Judo Championships Cadets Skopje 2025 includes 448 athletes from 42 nations, with the host nation fielding 16 judoka. With only a few days remaining until the start of the event, these numbers are unlikely to change significantly. The Jane Sandanski Sports Centre is fully prepared for a historic week, as North Macedonia to host its first-ever continental judo championships. In preparation for this major event, European Cups were organised in advance to ensure smooth delivery and readiness.

Vladimir Trpanoski, President of the North Macedonian Judo Federation, is eager to welcome all delegates:

“Dear Judoka, Coaches, Officials and Honoured Guests,

“On behalf of the Judo Federation of North Macedonia, it is my great honour and sincere pleasure to welcome you to the Millennium Team European Judo Cadet Championships 2025, held in the vibrant and historic city of Skopje.

“This event represents a truly historic moment not only for our Federation, but for our entire country. For the first time, North Macedonia has the privilege of hosting a European Judo Championship, and we are proud to open our doors to talented young judoka and dedicated supporters from across the continent.

“Judo teaches us discipline, respect and the pursuit of excellence, values we deeply cherish. This championship will be a celebration of youth, determination and the promising future of our beloved sport. We look forward to witnessing Europe’s rising stars compete with passion and sportsmanship, as the tatami in Skopje becomes a stage for unforgettable achievements and lifelong memories.

“We are immensely grateful to the European Judo Union and its President, Dr László Tóth, for entrusting us with the organisation of this important competition. Our organising team, volunteers, partners and sponsors have worked with great commitment to ensure your experience here is not only professionally managed but also warm and welcoming.

“To all the athletes: may you approach this championship with courage, focus and the true spirit of judo. To the coaches, officials and guests: thank you for your dedication to our sport and for being part of this significant milestone for North Macedonia. Welcome to Skopje! May this championship serve as a source of inspiration, unity and friendship for all.”
