Tripartite Commission Invitation Places 

Twenty (20) Tripartite Commission Invitation Places are made available to eligible NOCs at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee will invite all eligible NOCs to submit their requests for Tripartite Commission Invitation Places. The Tripartite Commission will confirm, in writing, the allocation of invitation places to the relevant NOCs after the end of the qualification period for the concerned sport. If the Tripartite Commission is not able to allocate a Tripartite Commission Invitation Place, it will be reallocated according to the IJF World Ranking List of 30 May 2016 to the highest ranked athlete, not yet qualified, regardless of the athlete’s weight category and gender, respecting the maximum quota of one (1) athlete per NOC per event.

As mentioned, Europe will have 36 different countires at the Olympic Games. The African Judo Union will have athletes from 25 different countries, whilst the Judo Union of Asia will enter competitors from 22 different nations. It will be 9 for Oceania Judo Union and 22 from the Pan-America Judo Confederation.

The Tripartite Commission Invitation Places yet to be confirmed, therefore, these numbers will slightly adjust with the announement of the final 20 places at the Summer Games. In the next few days we will publish all European participants. By the 18th of July the International Olympic Commitee (IOC) is going to aunnonce the list of all competitors.
