250 kata experts in Lignano for EJU Kodokan Seminar

Two hundred and fifty kata experts from 19 nations have started this morning, in the sports center in Lignano Sabbiadoro Getur in Italy for second European Seminar of the Kodokan. Exactly at 09.00am, with the judo characteristics punctuality and silence, the President of the Kodokan and the Japan Judo Federation Haruki Uemura opened the seminar by expressing greetings and best wishes for a fruitful work. Followed the interventions of EJU President Sergey Soloveychik and Vice-President Franco Capelletti. “Many years ago when I was young, Capelletti said, I had the dream to meet the great teachers of the Kodokan to learn directly from them, but I never thought that dream would be realized. That the Kodokan would come in Europe. Today I’m happy for all of you, that you can live this great opportunity”.
Practise immediately started with the first two kata, nage no kata and ju no kata, in two different locations in order to generate the maximum attention to the respective specialists who will support tests of competency for the prestigious and coveted award of the Kodokan on Wednesday.
Saturday continues with Kodokan Goshin Jitsu, Koshiki no kata and Itsusu no kata. Followed on Sunday with the last tests of competency and closure of the seminar in the evening.
