Just over a month ago, the former Events Director for the International Judo Federation, Dr Lisa ALLAN, was elected as the new General Secretary. Whilst finding her feet in her new role and taking on this incredible challenge, she is now in Poreč, Croatia, to see the fruits of labour from the Croatian Judo Federation who are hosting the numerous aspects of the 8th Judo Festival.
This event is unlike any other, there aren’t any other circumstances where these groups of people would have the opportunity to interact with one another and that is what’s wonderful. We have top athletes here, cadets who are only just starting their careers, family camp, adaptive judo, science and research seminars, there is nothing like this with these kinds of numbers. Of course the location certainly helps, the beautiful weather, sun, sea, you can see why so many people want to come and spend their time here.
After attending the training camps on the Plava Laguna Resort, meeting athletes, coaches and the families, Allan attended the celebration of double world champion and current world bronze medallist Barbara MATIĆ along with the EJU President and IJF Vice President, Dr László TÓTH and Croatian Judo Federation President, Dr Sanda CORAK.
