EJU organises Kodokan Kata course in Europe

EJU organises Kodokan Kata course in Europe

The EJU will organise a traditional Kodokan Kata Course from 2-7 March in Zagreb, Croatia. The Teachers of the Course will be a team of experts coming from the Kodokan of Tokyo. This historical event represents a historical Kata collaboration between the Kodokan and Europe, where many judoka are practicing kata forms. Now you can get your Kodokan certificate without travelling to Japan.

The EJU foresee two important objectives for the course:
1. The possibility to improve the knowledge of Kata with high level teachers in the world.
2. At the end of the course there is a possibility to participate in a demonstration of one Kata in front of the Kodokan experts to achieve the Kodokan certificate without to go in Japan.

Sergey Soloveychik, President of the European Judo Union: “We are very thankful to the Kodokan for supporting this very important historical event. We hope many federations will be represented and the number of participants will be very high. We really did our best to arrange good convinient program and conditions for the participants”.

The course include: Nage no Kata, Katame no Kata, Kime no Kata, Kodokan Goshinjutsu, Ju no Kata, Koshiki no Kata and Itsutsu no Kata. Only the inscriptions through the National Federations will be accepted.
Participation form must be sent to your national federation before 18 February.
The judoka giving the demonstration in order to obtain the Kodokan Certificate have to show the Kata both as Tori and Uke as usual like in the Kodokan Summer Course in Tokyo.
The Kodokan will issue one certificate per Kata of three grade categories to the persons who pass the examination.

EJU Vice President and Franco Capelletti: “I am very proud to organise this course. It is really unique that you can get your certificate without makeing many expenses to travel and stay in Japan. We hope many judoka benefit from this offer.”
