FRANCE PERFORM IN PAKS

The French team in Paks were great. A large field arrived for this year’s most important Hungarian tournament of the junior age group: 367 judokas from 26 countries on 5 continents took to the tatami in this European Cup event.

The first place in the medal table of the competition was the outstanding French national team (6 gold, 4 silver, 6 bronze), Ukraine came second (2, 1, 9), third was Canada (2, 0, 1). Apart from them, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Croatia and Romania were able to win a gold medal during the weekend. Hungary’s judoka collected a total of nine medals, five silver and four bronze medals. In the prestigious field, Áron Szabó (-73 kg), Demeter Marcell (-81 kg), Rebeka Kőszegi (-48 kg), Luca Mamira (-52 kg) and Hanna Szász (-57 kg) were in silver medal position, Levente Dobos (+100 kg), Luca Vég (-52 kg), Anna Kriza (-63 kg) and Nikolett Sági (-78 kg) were able to take third place.

The European Cup is followed by a three-day training camp, where the age groups prepare in Paks their best for the upcoming tests of strength, the European Championships in The Hague in September and that for the World Championships in Coimbra in October.
