ORUJOV OVER AND OUT

ORUJOV OVER AND OUT

A real gentlemen, moves in elegancy and with respect on and off the mat. His outstanding collection of achievements includes becoming three-time Olympian, double world medallist and European Champion. Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist, Rustam ORUJOV has officially announced his retirement via social media.

It was unforgettable years and I am very happy that I chose JUDO and had the honor to wave our flag in the big arenas! But every journey has an end. August 8 is the day I won the Olympic medal and exactly today I say goodbye to the great sport. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the years! I’m so lucky to have you! And now it’s time to open a new page in my life.

Orujov wrapped up a total of 16 Grand Slam and 12 Grand Prix medals throughout his career. Azerbaijan’s icon is thankful for all judo has showed him whilst carefully analysis the future generation.

Judo taught me plenty of things, including behaving well, respect others. Judo shows the right way to the right person, that is why I never regret to be in judo. Now, the next generation should, first of all, be away from bad habits, set a goal to get high results and fight until the last moment.

No surprise, Rio 2016 remains his best memory.

I will always remember the moment I went up to the podium.

Thank you Rustam and we wish you all the best for your future.
