Known as Vice President of the Portuguese Judo Federation, Mr Joaquim Sérgio Pina, has now been voted in as the President elect.
Sérgio Pina won the Election for President of the Portuguese Judo Federation (FPJ) for the remaining period of the 2021-2024 term. The FPJ General Electoral Assembly met Saturday, April 29th, at the Hotel D. Luís, in Coimbra.
The then-Vice President had 35 votes (in a universe of 57), defeating José Mário Cachada (who totalled 21 votes), with 1 blank vote still being counted. The electoral act was intended only for the President, who will lead the federative body until the end of the Paris2024 Games.
This electoral act was the formalization of the work that we have been developing in recent months. As of today, I feel perfectly mandated to continue the work that my team and I have been doing at the Portuguese Judo Federation. I hope that normality returns to the sport. I hope that people realize that not anything goes to achieve their personal goals and that after this election, which was completely normal, peace will return to judo. I hope that from now on, judo will be talked about for the sporting results, because we have quality athletes and a team that will certainly bring us a lot of joy.
Sérgio Pina’s inauguration is scheduled for May 9th, at the FPJ headquarters, in Odivelas.
