Russia leads medal tally at European Veteran Championships

At the second day of European Championships Veterans, held in Opole, host nation Poland ended with results in four male age categories: from M1 to M4 (30-49 years old). More than 250 competitors from 27 countries were fighting. All participants were well prepared and represented very high judo level.

Russia dominated the tournament with 16 gold, 16 silver and 7 bronze medals after two days. Germany follows with 25 medals in total. The host, Poland, won 19 medals, including bronze for the coach of the National Juniors Team, Piotr Sadowski in M4 -73kg category. Paweł Sitarski, multiple participant at Senior Championships won his first European Champion title at Veterans tournament at M2 100kg.

Today’s event was graced with the presence of President of European Judo Union Sergey Soloveychik, who appreciated the good organisation of this tournament

Beautiful, sunny weather and friendly atmosphere of tournament make the stay in Opole pleasant and enjoyable for all participants.
