Water flows at EJU Training Camp in Spa

For the third time, the town of Spa situated in the very deep heart of the Belgian Ardennes region, the FFBJ (the French speaking Belgian Judo Federation) hosted the EJU SPA Training Camp from the 31 January till the 3rd of February. This training camp is ideally placed on the EJU calendar, on the aftermath of the Belgian Ladies Open of Arlon and the men’s of Vise, and especially before the IJF Paris Grand Slam.

On the mats of SPA, 120 athletes of eleven nations from different continents, such as Europe, Asia and North & South America, were on an intensive and diverse program of activities under the direction of Cedric Taymans, Head Sports Director of the FFBJ and World vice-Champion.

During the daily practice sessions, the young athletes shared the mats with some judo champions, such as:

– Neil Adams (GBR), Olympic & World vice-champion and Europe title holder
– Yusuke Kanamaru (JAP), World vice-Champion,
– Patrick Roux (FRA), Europe’s Gold Medal and Bronze World medalist.
– Jane Bridge (GBR), World & Europe Champion

The EJU SPA Training Camp 2011 was honored to have as a guest the EJU Head Sports Director, Mr. Densign White and he added “With my visit, I could get an idea of the tremendous work accomplished by the athletes and coaches, all of this in a familiar and friendly atmosphere. Definitely, such training camp must be on the EJU calendar next year!!”
