WORLD JUDO DAY 2017: COURAGE

The World Judo Day takes place on the same date every year as the 28th of October is the birthday of Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo. Today, more than 28 million people practice judo around the world on a daily basis. The IJF has 196 national member federations and 5 continental unions.

The World Judo Day was launched in 2011 with RESPECT as the first theme, followed by JUDO FOR ALL (2012), PERSEVERANCE (2013), HONOUR (2014), UNITY (2015) and JUDO FOR THE WORLD (2016). This year, the theme named COURAGE will lead the day across the globe.

On behalf of the European Judo Union, we would like to invite everyone to promote the World Judo Day, to your clubs and all your members to make it a great success for the values of our sport. You can download all the communication elements (posters, diplomas, logos) to support your celebration on the IJF website

We kindly invite you to send all your projects so that the different actions can be spread across the World, on our social media sites as well as on the World Judo Day website. To do this, simply send images and a summary of the action to [email protected] and use always the hashtag #WorldJudoDay
