Vila Nova de Gaia Senior European Cup – Kiyoshi Kobayashi Cup 2023

The first day of Vila Nova de Gaia Senior European Cup – Kiyoshi Kobayashi Cup 2023 is over and what a day it was. A day filled with excellent and exciting contests!
On this first day the spotlights go to Rosa ALSGAARD from Norway who dominated the -63kg category, winning her 5 contests all by Ippon. On her way to the gold she faced Joana MORGADO from Portugal, Chiara FRIDEN from Switzerland and Moldir NARYNOVA from Kazakhstan. In the semi final she overtook the Italian Elisa TONIOLO and with this victory she booked her place in the final. At the final she found Sacha BUWALDA (NED) and with a huge ippon she held the gold for Norway.
The home crowd had the pleasure to hear the anthem through Raquel BRITO who dominated the -48kg category. In the end of this first day Portugal lead the Top 3 of the medal table with a total of 4 medals (1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) followed by Kazakhstan and Great Britain.
Tomorrow is the second and last day of this competition and it will start at 10:30 (local time). Like today we expected a lot of good judo and exciting contest!
