365 DAYS LEFT UNTIL 'THE BIGGEST SHOW ON EARTH' BEGINS IN RIO DE JANEIRO

DEX ELMONT -73kg WRL5

“The road to Rio will come to an end within one year. I am training hard and my wish is to make it my most successful Olympics ever…However, one thing is for sure, the Brazilian crowd will cheer us on with their passion and samba!”

ILSE HEYLEN -52kg WRL11

“Going into the last 9 months of the Olympic qualification period I stand with a real chance of participating at my 4th consecutive Olympic Games. Even at the age of 38 this still thrills and excites me and at the same time it is a great motivation. From the organisation of these Olympic Games I expect nothing but perfection. After all, it is the Games!”

GUILLAUME ELMONT -90kg WRL14

“The road to Rio is less than one year…After three Olympics I am more than eager to get a medal. The wonderful people of Brazil will motivate me a lot to get a medal on my birthday in their fantastic city, Rio de Janeiro.”

NATALIE POWELL -78kg WRL9

“I have had a really good first year of the qualification. The second year holds double the ranking points of the first year, so the pressure is really on now to secure my points for the second year. Not only it is important to qualify but securing a top 8 position is also important to be seeded for the Games. Rio is my first Olympic cycle trying to qualify, so its all new and I am really excited for the challenges ahead.”

BOR BARNA +100kg WRL5

Im terms of organisation, I think there is a high challenge set by Beijing and London. Having said that it will be different as I believe it will be more like a family atmosphere in Rio as all the venues will be much closer to each other than normally, which is important from an athlete point of view. To sum it up, Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful city in the world, so no doubt they will host an amazing Olympic Games.”
