423 athletes of 24 nations in Pontebba for Junior European Cup

The EJU Junior European Cup will take place On Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th, at the PalaVuerich in Pontebba (UD) with 24 nations and 423 athletes.

The event, organized by the Judo Kuroki of Tarcento, is set inside the Ice Palace, that was used for the 21st edition of the Winter Universiade Hockey Tournament in 2003. The International Training Camp, which will follow the competition (from 30th April to 1st May), will be set in the Sport Palace of Tarvisio, 22 kilometers far from Pontebba.
In the men categories there are 260 athletes, in the women one, 163.

Italy has the biggest number of athletes; they are 60. Other four nations have more than 30 athletes: Hungary (39), Germany (38), Slovenia and Austria (33). The most attractive category is that of the men with the weight of 60 kilos: there are 50 athletes; while, on the female side, is the category of 57 kilos with 36 athletes.

14 of 64 athletes who were on the podium in Lignano Sabbiadoro in 2011, will be in Pontebba and they are: Matej Poliak (Svk), 1st on 60 kilos category and now fighting in the 66 kilos category, Bernadett Keliger (Hun) and Fabio Basile (Ita), 2nd place in the 52 and 60 kilos category, Francisco Garrigos (Esp, 60-66), Renata Kiss (Hun, 48), Dragana Biskupovic (Srb, 63), Monika Rycak (Pol, 70), Lola Mansour (Bel, 70), Urska Gracner (Slo, 78) and the Italians Matteo Medves (60), Antonio Esposito (66-73), Ciro Busto (100), Sara Maria Romano (44), Greta Poser (52-57), all classified at 3rd place last year.
