It was both a sensational and devastating day for CSERMAK Daniel of Hungary in the European Youth Olympic Festival. The current European Champion in the +90kg category suffered an incredibly tough injury in his opening contest.
However after discussion and help from EJU Medical Commissioner and head doctor of Team Georgia, Zurab KAKHABRISHVILI, he was able to go on.
The Georgian doctor is very funny and witty, and also an excellent physician. He taped my shoulder so much I could barely move it, my shoulder was fully intact and didn’t hurt as much as it would have if we left it without attention.
After ensuring that pain and manufacturing a stabilised shoulder, impressively he was able to go on to take the EYOF gold medal.
It’s very good feeling, the best feeling, all that hard work and effort paid off in the end, thank god I managed to secure a gold again. My shoulder really really painful, I cannot even begin to describe how much it hurts.
Csermak’s shoulder was entirely taped up and immobilised so that the pain would not distract him,
I’d rather have it taped up and be restricted that to start the fight with problems and be in pain with it.

Now there is the Cadet World Championships in another four weeks, does it look likely he will compete for a third title in 2025?
First of all I’m going to focus on recovery and get my body in shape, then I’ll put in effort and work in order to repeat the results. I have mixed feelings as it is only in one month, it’s my second injury but hopefully I can get the gold in Bulgaria.
It was a special win in Skopje for Csermak but the EYOF element made it more so.
I liked the feeling here, I met a lot of people in the five days and I was so surprised how many were in the stands cheering for me to get this medal, it was amazing.
