Győr Get Together Debuts with Mixed Team Event

The Győr Get Together Tournament 2025 was not only the first of its kind in Hungary, but it also introduced an exciting new element: the mixed team event. This was “mixed” not only in gender but also in nationality, with athletes from different countries joining forces to create two unique teams: the Tigers and the Lions.

The atmosphere was charged, with no distinction felt. Their unity, supportive spirit, and driven mentality spoke volumes. Dr Tóth László, President of both the European Judo Union (EJU) and the Hungarian Judo Association, praised the initiative and underlined its future potential within the Get Together Tour:

“This is an extremely good initiative. I think it demonstrates not only how viable adapted judo is, but also how powerful this whole concept can be, which has been showcased wonderfully here at this competition. If we can continue this, then this truly mixed team format could become a very successful part of the competition series at this year’s adapted judo European Championships in Italy.

“By keeping it open, similar to what we once saw at the Youth Olympic Games, we can ensure participation from all countries in the future. We are confident that the event in Italy will attract not only European athletes, but also judoka from other continents, which is why we would like it to remain open.

“I am very glad to have been here today. It was a great experience to witness such a competition from start to finish. I see our success, I see the results, and I see an initiative that can set an example for a wider Paralympic Movement.”
