The European Judo Union (EJU) has released the official outlines for the Open European Adapted Judo Championships 2025, which will take place on 6–7 November in Conegliano, Italy. Alongside the Open Europeans, the Conegliano Adapted Judo Tournament will also be held, creating an inclusive festival of judo for athletes of all ages and ability levels.
Eligibility Criteria
EJU Open European Adapted Judo Championships
EJU Adapted Level 1 & Level 2 judoka over 15, utilising EJU 5 level divisioning criteria. Virtus Classification II1, II2 & III3 and all judoka that meets the requirements described in the “Eligibility Criteria for Athletes with disabilities in EJU Adapted Judo Tournaments”. Medical documentation or evidence of prior classification from Virtus must be submitted until October 17th in the original language and translated into English via email: [email protected]. After reviewing the documentation, each competitor will receive a confirmation of whether they meet the eligibility criteria for participation.
Weight Categories (Open Europeans, Levels 1 & 2)
- Women: -52kg, -57kg, -63kg, -70kg, +70kg
- Men: -66kg, -73kg, -81kg, -90kg, +90kg
Competition Format
- Contest duration: 4 minutes, with Golden Score (no time limit).
- Divisioning: Mandatory for all athletes and held the day before competition.
Conegliano Adapted Judo Tournament
Only athletes with a minimum eligible impairment, that meets the requirements described in the “Eligibility Criteria for Athletes with Disabilities in European Judo Union Adapted Judo Tournaments” can take part into the Get Together Tournament.
A Step Forward for Adapted Judo
This year’s championships represent an important milestone. Following last year’s inaugural Open European II Judo Championships, which focused on intellectual impairments at Levels 1 and 2, the 2025 edition will, for the first time, be open to athletes with all types of disabilities. EJU Adapted Judo Project Manager, Marina Draskovic shared her pride ahead of the event:

Open to the World
Both the Open European Adapted Judo Championships and the Conegliano Adapted Judo Tournament welcome participation from clubs, EJU and IJF member federations, as well as judoka outside the European Judo Union.
With its expanded eligibility, new opportunities for competition, and a strong spirit of inclusivity, the 2025 Open European Adapted Judo Championships in Conegliano will be a celebration of sport and community at the highest level.
