Three Weeks to Go Until a Historic First: Moldova Is Ready for Europe

In just three weeks’ time, for the very first time, delegates will descend on Chișinău, Moldova, for the U23 European Judo Championships 2025, which will take place from 31 October to 2 November. The event will be hosted at the brand-new Chișinău Arena, and entry for visitors is FREE of charge.

Although the official competition entry deadline is still 12 days away, more than 150 judoka have already registered. Among them are several athletes who are currently returning from Lima with fresh junior world championship medals around their necks.

The U23 European Championships is truly everyone’s event, a perfect development platform and a bridge connecting the junior and senior stages. With all the excitement of this new destination, Andrei Golban, President of the National Judo Federation of Moldova, is looking forward to welcome all delegates at the end of this month:

“On behalf of the Judo Federation of Moldova, it is my great honour and privilege to welcome you all to the U23 European Judo Championships, hosted for the very first time here in our country. This is a historic moment for Moldovan sport and we are deeply proud to share it with you.

“Bringing such a prestigious event to Moldova has been a dream for our judo family for many years. Today, that dream becomes reality thanks to the dedication of our federation, the support of our partners, and the trust placed in us by the European Judo Union. We are truly grateful for this confidence, and we are determined to make this championship an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

“End of this month, we will witness the talent, determination, and sportsmanship of Europe’s finest young judoka. This competition is not only about winning medals; it is about building friendships, strengthening the judo spirit, and inspiring the next generation. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and see you soon in Chișinău.”
