The European Judo Union is proud to announce the launch of the Jita Kyoei 2 Mediators Online Course, a comprehensive educational programme designed to explore the foundational principles of judo as envisioned by its founder, Jigoro Kano. Developed through the Erasmus+ project Jita Kyoei 2, this innovative course expands upon the traditional French moral code of judo by introducing four new values, Trust, Proactivity, Responsibility and Self-Realisation, alongside the existing eight core principles. The programme aims to develop not only skilled judoka but champions in life who exemplify proper behaviour, effective communication and a commitment to supporting others. Available now as a free, self-paced online course, the Jita Kyoei 2 programme represents a collaborative effort by leading European judo organisations to promote the educational and social values at the heart of our sport.
Who developed this course?
The Jita Kyoei 2 Course was developed by a consortium of organisations dedicated to promoting the values of judo. This group includes the European Judo Union, Sports Society GIB (Slovenia), French Judo Federation (France), Judo Club Rijeka (Croatia), Ginásio Clube Português (Portugal), Clubul Sportiv Judo Club Liberty (Romania), and Sport Evolution Alliance (Portugal).
How is the course structured?
The Jita Kyoei 2 Course consists of 12 modules, each representing one of the 12 core values integrated into the project’s educational framework. Each module includes:
- A comprehensive presentation detailing the specific value
- Interactive videos featuring exercises and practical applications related to the value
- Supporting materials to reinforce the activities and concepts
The course is delivered asynchronously, allowing you to progress at your own pace and choose the order in which you complete the modules. Once you have finished all the modules, you will take a final quiz to assess your understanding of the course content.
On average, the course will take you around three hours to complete. After successfully finishing, you will be able to download your certificate automatically. For those interested in delving deeper into the topics, additional literature and supporting materials are available to help you further explore the subject matter.
