Although Tamás Zahonyi, CEO of Official Backnumber, was unable to attend the official contract signing with the EJU on 20 January in Belgrade, he was delighted to share his reflections as a continued partner for backnumbers and sponsorship labels.
The collaboration between Official Backnumber and the European Judo Union has delivered tangible benefits for the Hungarian company’s market position and brand recognition.
“Our partnership with the European Judo Union has significantly strengthened our brand position within European judo,” Mr Zahonyi explained. “It has increased our visibility across key markets and reinforced our reputation for high-quality products and reliable, fast delivery.”
The partnership has created opportunities beyond mere brand exposure. “Being present at major EJU events has allowed us to build strong relationships with athletes, federations and stakeholders, whilst gaining valuable insights that support continuous product improvement.”
As Official Backnumber renews its commitment for the year ahead, the company’s objectives reflect both continuity and ambition for deeper integration.
“For 2026, our goal is to further deepen the partnership and strengthen our role within the European judo community,” Mr Zahonyi stated. “We want to continue supporting top-level events whilst focusing on innovation, responsiveness and expanding our presence in key European markets. We see this renewal as a step towards an even more integrated and strategic collaboration.”
Official Backnumber employs a multifaceted approach to evaluating sponsorship effectiveness, combining quantitative and qualitative metrics.
“We evaluate success through brand visibility at EJU events, engagement with athletes and federations and long-term business impact,” Mr Zahonyi explained. “Positive feedback from the judo community, growing demand for our products and repeat partnerships are key indicators that the sponsorship delivers real value.”
The partnership between Official Backnumber and the EJU extends beyond commercial considerations, rooted in shared principles that define both organisations.
“European judo reflects values such as respect, discipline and excellence, which strongly align with our company ethos,” Mr Zahonyi noted. “Supporting the EJU allows us to contribute to athlete development and the wider judo community, whilst reinforcing our long-term commitment to the sport.”
Official Backnumber has identified several areas where the partnership can evolve and deepen throughout 2026.
“We see opportunities for closer collaboration through enhanced event presence, athlete-focused innovation, and faster, more flexible support for EJU initiatives,” Mr Zahonyi outlined. “Our aim is to evolve the sponsorship into a true partnership built on quality, trust and shared values.”
Official Backnumber plays a crucial role in the operational success of EJU competitions, providing the backnumbers and labels that ensure smooth event management and athlete identification. The company’s commitment to rapid delivery and consistent quality has made it an indispensable partner for competition organisers across Europe.
