European Excellence Honoured at the IJF Awards in Paris

Presented in front of a packed Accor Arena during the Paris Grand Slam, the IJF Judo Awards once again brought the global judo family together for a moment of reflection and celebration. Following a 2025 season filled with intensity, growth and unforgettable milestones, the ceremony recognised those who not only achieved success on the tatami but also embodied the spirit and values of judo.

Among the highlights were several European winners whose performances and contributions left a lasting mark on the international stage.

One of the most emotional recognitions came in the Moment of the Year category, awarded to Georgia’s Eteri Liparteliani. Her historic triumph in Budapest, where she became Georgia’s first-ever female world champion, resonated far beyond medals and rankings. It symbolised progress, courage and a powerful step forward for women’s judo in Europe.

Georgia’s influence continued to shine as the Georgian coaching team received the Coaching Achievement of the Year award. Their leadership guided the national squad to a long-awaited world mixed team title, reflecting years of dedication, unity and belief in a shared vision.

Her success has become a source of inspiration not only for Georgian athletes but for the wider European judo community. The award was presented by EJU President, Dr Tóth László.

In the men’s categories, Timur Arbuzov was honoured as Male Judoka of the Year, a recognition of his outstanding performances and competitive dominance across the season.
