The veterans’ season will begin this weekend, with Latvia hosting the opening event of the Veterans Tour. Although the number of entries is not the highest, the level of international participation is impressive, with 16 nations represented: Azerbaijan, Belgium, Czechia, Estonia, France, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Türkiye and Ukraine.
Participants will also have the opportunity to test themselves in a dedicated ne-waza event. Furthermore, the competition will be followed by a joint training session on Sunday, offering athletes the chance not only to exchange skills but above all to celebrate their shared love of the sport.
The entry list includes 2025 Veteran European champions such as Melissa Cicuto (ITA), Aurel Gavris (ROU) and Fabian Vanhollebeke (BEL). Also featured is five-time Veteran European medallist and three-time Veteran World medallist, Krzysztof Czupryna (POL).
