Cadet Tour Lands in Ganja

Azerbaijan is set to host the next leg of the ‘Millennium Team’ Cadet European Judo Tour, marking the fourth time the nation has staged the event. The Ganja Sports Palace will welcome 286 judoka from 11 countries on 4–5 April, as the tour continues to gather momentum.

Alongside a strong home contingent of over 100 Azerbaijani athletes, competitors from Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Portugal, Tajikistan, Türkiye and the United States will take to the tatami, promising a truly international field.

Rashad Rasullu, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, underlined the country’s growing reputation on the global stage:

“For many years, Azerbaijan has successfully hosted prestigious international judo tournaments. As a result, our country is now recognised as a reliable and professional organiser. With the senior World Championships among scheduled for October this year, the attention of the international judo community will once again turn to Azerbaijan.

“In this context, hosting the Cadet European Cup in Ganja ahead of this major event is of particular importance. Following previous editions in Goygol and Guba, bringing the tournament to Ganja provides an additional boost to the development of judo in the regions and creates valuable opportunities for our cadet athletes to gain experience in a high-level international competitive environment.

Organising such events in the regions contributes to the wider development of judo across the country and helps build a strong foundation for future success.”

Fans will be able to follow all the action live on JudoTV, while the momentum continues beyond the competition, with an international cadet training camp scheduled in Ganja from 6–8 April immediately after the tournament.
