On Saturday during the EJU Ordinary Congress in Kiev the EJU annual awards were given by various VIPS to representatives of athletes or the winners themselves.
Under the honoured guests IJF President Marius Vizer, premium sponsors and Top suppliers who all witnessed the awards ceremony.
Best male judoka: Ilias Iliadis (GRE)
Greek Ilias Iliadis was the youngest ever Olympic Champion in 2004. He was twice vice world champion, but not this time. In Tokyo he won the world title.
Best female judoka: Lucie Decosse (FRA)
Lucie Decosse is dominant in the class U70kg winning the World title and the Grand Slams of Paris and Rio de Janeiro.
Promising women’s judoka: Abigel Jóo (HUN)
20-year old Abigel Jóo this year won the European senior title and recently prolonged her European U23 title. She was the reigning European U20 and U23 champion of 2009 as well.
Promising men’s judoka: Marcus Nyman (SWE)
Marcus Nyman was already European Junior Champion when he won the European senior title this year in Vienna in a competitive field U90kgs.
Best Team award: Dutch women’s team
Kitty Bravik, Juul Franssen, Elisabeth Willeboordse, Anicka van Emden, Linda Bolder, Marhinde Verkerk and Carola Uilenhoed won the world team title in Antalya led by women’s coach Marjolein van Unen.
Best Organiser: Czech Judo Federation
The Czech Judo Federation was busy in 2010. Besides the usual organization of their senior World Cup in Prague, the annual European Cup U17 (Teplice) and U20 (Prague) was held. But highlight of organisation was the European Cadet Championships in Teplice in July.
Best Judo Event: Austrian Judo Federation
The Austrian Judo Federation was awarded for their excellent European Senior Championships. Not only the individual event, but also the team events was a great success, witnessed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, IJF President Marius Vizer and many other international VIPs and media representatives.
Best women’s coach: Florin Bercean (ROU)
Florin Bercean was awarded for his great successes with the Romanian women. At the European Senior Championships Romania won gold by Alina Dumitru and Corina Caprioriu. Dumitru won bronze at the 2010 World Championships.
EJU Referees awards: Cathy Mouette (FRA) and Franc Ocko (SLO)
French Cathy Mouette was awarded for best female referee. Franc Ocko of Slovenia the best male referee.
Best men’s coach: Benoit Campargue (FRA)
Benoit Campargue celebrated great successes this year. The French men’s team won five medals at the World Championships in Tokyo. Gold and silver for Riner, bronze for Fabre, Bataille and Korval.
EJU Kata Awards: Iulian Surla & Aurelian Fleisz (ROU) and Daniele Mainenti & Andrea Faccioli (ITA)
Both in possession of the 5. Dan Iulian Surla and Aurelian Fleisz successfully represent Romania in Kata events. Nage no Kata European champions in 2008-2009-2010.
Daniele Mainenti and Andrea Faccioli represent Italy in Kata and both have the 5. Dan.
Kodokan Goshinjutsu European champions in 2010.
EJU Photo Award: Carlos Ferreira (BEL)
At the Congress one of the awards was given to Carlos Ferreira, the EJU photographer for his adoring pictures last year. Enjoy some of the beautiful work of the Photographer from Belgium.
EJU Science Award: Tatyana Trivic (CRO)
At European Championships in Vienna the EJU organised a science symposium where participants could send in their studies in poster format. The winner Tatyana Trivic (CRO) won the symposium for her study about the “acute effect of exercise on oxidative stress biomarkers”.
EJU Doctors Award: Dr. Lauri Malinen (FIN)
The chairman of the Medical Commission of the EJU, Dr. Lauri Malinen was awarded in Kiev for his work. Malinen was a helping hand after the earthquake in Haiti.
Special Award 2010: Dr. Andrea Lino (ITA)
Doctor Andrea Lino serves 30 years to the EJU as a doctor. He is in possession of the 6th Dan himself but besides that a fantastic person and still active.
EJU Educational Award: Yuri Krishuk (RUS)
Yuri Krishuk was awarded the Educational Award for his best didactical application in 2010. He has the 5. Dan.
EJU Video Award: Sergey and Nikita Melekhin (RUS)
Sergey and Nikita Melekhin made a video presentation of the European Kata Championships in 2008 in Prague and the European Veteran Championships in Lignano in 2009. They have the 2. Dan grade.
Fair Play Award: Mikhail Ilinich (RUS)
At the European Veteran Championships in Porec Mikhail Ilinich was leading his match seconds before the end, knowing he would win, but couldn’t compete any further, he gave up so that his opponent could continue for the final. Mikhail wears the 4. Dan.
