A Shared Language Beyond Words: EJU and DIJF Signed MoU in Paris

The European Judo Union (EJU) took another meaningful step towards a more inclusive future on Sunday, 8 February, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Deaf International Judo Federation (DIJF) during the Paris Grand Slam. Set against one of the most iconic stages of the IJF World Tour, the agreement reflected a shared vision to strengthen collaboration, increase visibility and create sustainable opportunities for deaf judoka across Europe and beyond. In recent years, the EJU had placed growing emphasis on Adapted Judo, expanding initiatives, events and educational pathways that ensured the values of respect, equality and mutual welfare were felt by every member of the judo family. The partnership built on that momentum, opening new doors for development, exchange of expertise and stronger representation within the sport.

EJU President, Dr Tóth László, welcomed the moment with pride: “Judo is a language that goes beyond words and today we reaffirm that it truly belongs to everyone. By strengthening our cooperation with the Deaf International Judo Federation, we are not only supporting athletes but also reinforcing the spirit of inclusion that defines our community. Adapted Judo continues to grow and together we are shaping a future where every judoka feels seen, valued and empowered.”
