This year, Louvain-la-Neuve will host the Belgian EJU Kata Tournament for the first time on the 1st of March. This new location is close to Brussels as well as the high performance sport centre.

With 90 pairs representing 18 countries, this 2020 event is already an established success, participants in attendance from outside of European including the United States of America and Canada. The best Kata pairs in both Europoe and the World have arranged personal contests which will be fascinating for spectators and participants alike.

Alongside the competition, there are currently 44 participants subscribed to the Kata Judges Seminar, not only for the benefit of the judges but also athletes and coaches in their preparation. It is a great way for those learning the art of Kata to recognise the elements judges assess performance on.

This tournament launches the Kata season of the UEJ, which will continue with tournaments in Pordenone (Italy) and Lambesart (France). Later this year, Poland will host the European and World Kata Championships in Warsaw and Krakow respectively.

Not forgetting the Judo Festival in Porec, Croatia which will host the annual Kodokan Kata Seminar, the Kata calendar is consistently growing with more and more participants becoming involved in Europe.

Before the tournament starts on Sunday, the EJU Kata Seminar and Examinations will take place in the same location on the 28th and 29th of February.
