Budapest welcomes the greatest stars of Europe

Only just a few hours to go and the adidas Judo European Championships begin in the capital city of Hungary, Budapest.  The judoka will fight for the medals in the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna which has the total capacity of 9,000 people.

The first delegations arrived to Budapest on Tuesday, Judoggy, the Hungarian dog (vizsla), the mascot of the event welcomed the athletes at the airport.  He greeted the brightest star in judo, the 5-times world champion, Olympic gold medallist, the French Teddy Riner.

On Wednesday, on the day Zero the programme for every participant: registration, weighing for the participants of the first day, draws of every weight category in the evening, and on Thursday will sound the first „Hajime!”.

The LOC hopes that during the European Championships all the seats in the venue will be reserved.

With the help and assistance of the Host Broadcaster MTVA the fans can follow the happenings of the European Championships in several countries. In Hungary the Sport TV will broadcast the EC live and in the Hungarian TV (MTV) every evening there will be summaries of the day. The streets are filled with billboard and the city is dressed up in judo.
