CONTRACT SIGNING 2025: ESSIMO

In a landmark event held in Belgrade, Serbia, Essimo reaffirmed its longstanding partnership with the European Judo Union (EJU). Representing Essimo were CEOs Patrick van Kalken and Jacqueline van Kalken, whose presence underscored the brand’s commitment to the values and traditions of judo.

Following the signing, Patrick van Kalken shared insights into Essimo’s philosophy, stating:

Our brand values align closely with the core principles of judo, such as respect. Our slogan, ‘Take the Gold,’ has layered meanings: excelling in competition, wearing our judogi with gold embroidery, and embodying the judo spirit by demonstrating good manners and living by judo values.

Looking ahead, Essimo plans to maintain its focus on sales while enhancing its accountability and sustainability efforts. Van Kalken revealed ongoing initiatives to reduce plastic usage in packaging, a pressing global issue. He went on to provide further details on the company’s activities;

We also support our producers in Pakistan, not for fame but to care for our community. Whenever we visit, we provide essential supplies. They are part of our Essimo family, as without them, our judogi wouldn’t exist. Essimo’s dedication to ethical practices extends to fair treatment of competitors and upholding judo’s guiding principles. We always strive to do our best while staying true to the values of judo.

Reflecting on the collaboration with EJU, Van Kalken expressed deep appreciation:

We started working with EJU four and a half years ago and it has been like a warm bath. We are always welcomed and feel the family atmosphere. That’s why we are pleased to continue this partnership. The setup here in Belgrade is professional, and we truly feel valued. We look forward to the years ahead.

With shared values and a commitment to the judo community, Essimo and EJU are poised for continued success, fostering growth and promoting excellence within the sport. Following the conclusion of the official proceedings, each company was presented with a certificate to symbolise its partnership with EJU and the Paris Plaque, in recognition of their unwavering support.
