EIGHTEEN NATIONS IN FOLLONICA, 150 ITALIAN JUDOKAS ON TATAMI

Italy is ready for the Cadet European Judo Cup, part of the IJF World Cadet Tour scheduled in Follonica for Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 of February.

The event, which replaced the tournament in Ukraine and immediately weekend after successfully held European Open for Men in Ostia, is now in ECC Tuscany’s organization, a consortium of four clubs, Izumo Montevarchi, Meeting Center, Judo Incisa and Budokwai Borgo S. Lorenzo.

The last European Cup for Cadet in Kiev was held on March 30-31, 2013 (last of ten editions played, five Olympic Hopes U17, a Top Cadet Tour U17 and three European Cup Cadets) and had registered 569 athletes from 23 nations.

Extremely positive mood for the first Italian edition in Follonica will host 324 athletes (143 female, 181 male) from 18 nations, but even more positive will be for home-grown players, 150 Italian athletes (82 males, 68 females) will have opportunity to fight in front of home fans.
