The European Junior Cup will take place from 28 February to 1 March in the city of Móstoles, bringing together around 500 young athletes from 23 countries for one of the most important junior judo events on the international calendar. Traditionally, hosted in Málaga in previous years, the competition moves to Madrid in 2026 as part of Móstoles’ designation as European Capital of Sport.

The event will welcome some of the most promising junior judoka in Europe, offering high-level competition and valuable ranking opportunities. The European Junior Cup continues to grow year on year, consolidating its position as a key stage in the development pathway towards elite international competition.

Organised with the support of the Spanish Judo Federation (RFEJYDA) and local institutions, the tournament highlights Móstoles’ commitment to sport and to hosting international events. Beyond the competition itself, the championship represents an opportunity to promote sporting values, youth development and international cooperation through judo.

“We are proud to welcome the European Junior Cup to Móstoles during such a special year for the city. Hosting athletes from across Europe reflects our commitment to sport and to creating opportunities for young talent,” said a representative of Móstoles City Council.

The Royal Spanish Judo Federation expressed its gratitude to the institutions involved in making the event possible. “We would like to thank Móstoles City Council and the Community of Madrid for their strong support and collaboration. Their involvement has been essential in bringing this prestigious event to the region and in continuing to promote the growth of judo in Spain,” stated an RFEJYDA spokesperson.

With approximately 500 competitors and delegations from 23 nations expected to take part, the Junior European Cup promises two days of high-intensity contests, an international atmosphere and a compelling showcase of the future of European judo.
