Final IJF World Ranking used for seating at World Championships

Final IJF World Ranking used for seating at World Championships

In the new IJF World Ranking not much has changed in the top three compared to last week. This weekend at the World Cup of Belo Horizonte judokas could gain points to get a better placing at the World Championships in Rotterdam in August. Most of the medals were won by Brazil, but didn’t have a top 10 position yet.
U73kg Leandro Guilheiro (BRA-4) was one of the exceptions, he was already placed fourth and because of his win in Belo Horizonte he collected another 100 points, but didn’t change position and stayed fourth.
U100kg World Champion Luciano Correa (BRA-1) was already seated as number 1 and strengthened his position by winning in Belo Horizonte. He leads just before Elco van der Geest (NED-2).

In the women’s U63kg category Claudia Malzahn (GER-5) gained one position at number 5 due to her bronze medal in Brazil this weekend. Her compatriot Claudia Ahrens is still placed seventh despite her final in Belo Horizonte.

Juliane Robra (SUI-9) won the world cup this weekend U70kg and made a jump to position 9 from 14.

Heide Wollert (GER-4) changed from sixth to fourth position U78kg due to her win in Belo Horizonte. Positions 1 until 8 are European, expect for Yang Xiuli (CHN-2).

Franziska Konitz (GER-7) improved her position for the draw at the worlds due to her win last week as well. She came from 10 and can now be found at place 7 at the new IJF world ranking.
