National federations in most countries, if not all, relies on government funding which is given based on results mostly from European, world and Olympic championships. Therefore, the European Judo Championships Seniors Zagreb 2024, will not only offer the winner 700 world ranking points but potential personal, as well as team support for the forthcoming years.

Government funding plays a crucial role in promoting widespread participation in judo. By allocating resources to judo clubs, facilities, and training programs, governments enable individuals from all backgrounds to access and engage in the sport. This funding helps in providing affordable training opportunities, coaching, and equipment, thus breaking down financial barriers and ensuring equal opportunities for aspiring judoka. Same goes for the host nation who narrowly missed out on a medal at the Tokyo Summer Games and their last European title dates back to 1974, therefore, a successful event in Zagreb could potentially open a new chapter in their history books. What more?
