GERMAN ATHLETS DOMINATE EJCUP IN ZURICH

A great ambience, strong fights and a good organisation: Judoka from 25 nations spent definitely a fantastic time at the Senior European Judo Cup in Uster (Switzerland). A loud audience during the finals testified this amazing atmosphere – especially when the local Swiss athletes were fighting for medals in front of the home crowd.

The Dutch nation started very strong at the first day with two gold medals in the light-weight categories by Bas KOFFIJBERG and Kim AKKER. In the end it was Germany who dominates with six gold, two silver and nine bronze this tournament. The Dutch remain at rank two of the medal table with four gold medals. The host country took the fifth place at the medal table with five medals. Unfortunately after strong fights they lost in three finals.

The Swiss Judo Federation (SJV) and the home club of Uster are very happy about the great organisation and the good collaboration with the EJU. They are looking forward for another great EJCup in 2017.
