This International Women’s Day (March 8), the European Judo Union proudly celebrates the women whose strength, intelligence, and dedication shape and grow our sport every single day.
This year’s theme, “Give To Gain,” reflects a principle deeply rooted in the values of judo itself.
Progress in sport has always been driven by those with the courage to break barriers and the honesty to recognise both the challenges and the achievements along the way. It is built on friendships that endure, through knowledge shared on and off the tatami, through mentorship that guides the next generation, and through a commitment to honour those who will follow by creating opportunities for them to advance even further.
By giving our time, wisdom and encouragement, we build a stronger, more united judo family and, perhaps, take meaningful steps toward a more connected world.
Today, we honour our athletes, coaches, referees, officials, and mentors, who give life to our community and carry its values forward.
Your presence elevates our sport and reminds us that the true spirit of judo lives in those who dedicate themselves to its principles.
International Women’s Day invites us to pause and express gratitude to the champions, mothers, leaders, and friends who have helped bring us to where we are today. It also offers a moment to renew our commitment to even greater equity and inclusion, recognising that the success of one strengthens the entire community.
Happy International Women’s Day from the European Judo Union.
