On the final day of the Slovenj Gradec Junior European Cup in Slovenia they celebrated Gal Bertalanic Zizek’s impressive performance, securing a silver medal despite narrowly losing in the final contest against David Dudy from the Czech Republic in the under 100 Kg category. Zizek’s display of skill and determination garnered immense support from the home crowd, and his achievement is a source of pride for Slovenia.

In the 81 kg category, Ukraine’s Igor Tsurkan, last year’s cadet European champion, showcased exceptional judo skills. Tsurkan’s thrilling victory in the final, defeating Italy’s BeliniAlessandro with an impressive Ippon, earned him the gold medal. Throughout the tournament, Italy’s judo athletes continued to excel and maintained their dominance, solidifying their position at the top of the medals ranking table. The Italian team’s consistent success is a testament to their strength and skill, establishing them as a formidable force in the competition.

While the competition has concluded, the judo activities in Slovenj Gradec continue with the EJU Junior Training Camp. This camp provides a valuable opportunity for junior judo athletes to further enhance their skills, learn from experienced coaches, and engage in productive training sessions.

Congratulations to all the medalists and participants of the Slovenj Gradec Junior European Cup. The dedication and talent displayed by the athletes have made the tournament a remarkable success.
