Hungary takes the gold in medal tally in Paks

At day two of the European Junior Cup in Paks in Hungary it was the Ukraine taking two gold medals in a field of 7 different winning countries. Artem Bulyga won gold U73kg and Olena Petrechenko was responsible for the second gold for Ukraine in her category U70kg. Ukraine even lost two finals confirming the great performance of the judokas.

Saturday’s winner Romania didn’t win a fourth title, it was host nation Hungary taking a third medal and won the medal tally. Laszlo Juracsek (HUN) won his category U66kg.

Germany won a second gold medal on Sunday by means of Maxim Schitov U60kg. Schitov prolonged last year’s title U60kg. Germany’s Hermann Schener lost the final U73kg.
Neighbour Kathrin Unterwurzacher (AUT) took the gold U63kg. Sarah Mairhofer lost the final for Austria U78kg. Spain won the gold by Laia Talarn in this category, while lightweight Joaquin Gomis (ESP) lost the final to Dutch Yannick Claproth who won his second European Cup in five weeks time.
Larisa Ceric (BIH) was this weekend oldest winner today aged 19. She won the first European Cup for her nation this year. Russia is leading with 19 titles in 2010, Germany added another two, making 17 at the second position. A huge gap with rest of the promising countries with judoka under 20 years.
