"I AM UP FOR IT AGAIN!"

Tel Aviv Grand Slam 2023

"I AM UP FOR IT AGAIN!"

Business as usual? Anna Maria WAGNER (GER/-78 kg) is seeded No. 1 at the Grand Slam tournament in Tel Aviv. Five of the top 10 in the world rankings will be competing in Israel. For the 26-year-old German it is the first start this year on international level. She won the German Championships in Stuttgart at the end of January. At the beginning of February, the 2021 World Champion was at the Olympic Training Camp in Paris to get the final touches for her season debut.

I’m back to my old self, I’m really into judo and I’m looking forward to Tel Aviv. I’m a force to be reckoned with,” smiles Anna Maria. “Last year I didn’t sell myself so badly, with two Grand Slam wins, but I wasn’t at 100 percent. Now everything is great again. The training in Paris was really fun. I’m ready for wins at the highest level.

There was also time for a brief reunion in Paris with superstar Clarisse AGBEGNENOU, who is making her individual comeback in Tel Aviv following her baby break.

It’s nice to see that you can compete even as a mom. Clarisse seems absolutely happy, she always has the little one with her during training. I’m sure she will come back very strong. She made a very good impression on me.
