In Love With Sarajevo: Tomc And Marczak Win Back-To-Back Gold

The two-day European Judo Cup for seniors Sarajevo 2025 ended today in the Bosnian capital.

The second competition day offered extremely interesting and exciting fights, and visitors and visitors could realy enjoy the quality judo performances at this international competition.

The most successful at the European Judo Cup for seniors were the members of the IJF team with three gold, one silver and three bronze medals, while Italy took second place with two gold, three silver and four bronze. The third position went to Poland (two golds, three silvers and two bronzes).

There are many judokas who achieve good results year after year on the tatami in Sarajevo.

After triumphing in the sports hall of Hotel Hills last October, at the Sarajevo European Open 2024, Slovenian Nika TOMC repeated the same success today in the category up to 57 kilograms.

The competition was good, the opponents were high-quality, but Sarajevo simply suits me. I don’t know why, but that’s how it is, as if there is some special connection.

said Nika TOMC after the medal awarding ceremony.

Just like Nika TOMC, Derek MARCZAK managed to win another gold in Sarajevo. The Polish judoka dominated the category up to 90 kilograms. Derek wanted to remind us that he won the Junior European Cup in Sarajevo in February this year.

I don’t know if you remember, but just a few months ago I also won a gold medal in this same hall. It seems that Sarajevo suits me, I would say that a special love has been born.

said Derek MARCZAK.

The Pole expects one more tournament in Great Britain, after which he will focus on preparations for the European and World Junior Championships.

The best result among domestic competitors was achieved by Toni Miletić with a bronze medal and the Judo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an excellent technical organizer, can be proud of having five judges with the IJF badge in the judging team on this event.
