Tbilisi is set to welcome the next stop of the Veterans European Cup tour on 7 March, bringing together experienced judoka from across Europe and beyond. A total of 112 athletes representing six nations will compete in the Georgian capital, continuing the strong tradition of veteran judo on the continental circuit.
Alongside the host nation of Georgia, competitors from France, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Tajikistan and Türkiye will step onto the tatami, highlighting the international appeal of the veterans’ circuit and the enduring passion for judo across generations.
The tournament programme features a wide range of divisions, with 41 categories for men organised by both age and weight, as well as five categories for women. The format ensures that athletes can continue to compete at a high level while celebrating the lifelong journey that judo represents.

This marks the third time that Tbilisi has hosted a Veterans European Cup, reaffirming the city’s growing reputation as a welcoming hub for international judo events. The competition will take place at the Judo Academy, with spectators invited to attend free of charge.
Chairman of the Veterans Commission, Berdia Gugava, expressed his enthusiasm ahead of the event:
“It is our great pleasure to host the Veterans European Cup in Tbilisi for the third time. It is very important for veteran judoka to remain active in sport. I would like to thank the organisers and the athletes who will visit us in Tbilisi. Georgia will welcome them with its traditional hospitality.”
Beyond the medals, the Veterans European Cup celebrates the spirit of lifelong participation in judo, bringing together athletes who continue to embody the sport’s values of respect, perseverance and mutual welfare. For many, the event is not only a competition but also a reunion of the wider judo family.
The event will be streamed live online via https://ejulive.net.
