The National Judo Federation of Montenegro held its regular General Assembly in Podgorica, delivering a unanimous mandate to Jovica Rečević to continue leading Montenegrin judo for the next four years. All 43 delegates attended the session and voted unanimously in favour of the proposal that the current president continue guiding the federation through the upcoming Olympic cycle.

Speaking after his re-election, Rečević acknowledged both the honour and responsibility inherent in the mandate.

“It is a great honour but also an obligation, to be elected as President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro again,” he stated. “I am grateful for the support of all delegates, who have shown confidence in the way the federation is run. I see this re-election not only as recognition for my work thus far, but also as an opportunity to continue the development of the Montenegrin judo family together with our clubs and athletes.”

Montenegro faces a packed international calendar in 2026, with the country hosting multiple significant European judo events.

“Two European Cups await us again, the senior event on 7-8 March and the junior competition in October,” Rečević outlined. “The most important competition of this year will be the European Junior Championships, held in Podgorica from 3-6 September.”

The year concludes with another prestigious occasion. “At the end of the year in December, we will have the pleasure and privilege of hosting the Congress of the European Judo Federation in Budva. The achievement of these significant events is an indicator of the confidence the umbrella European judo organisation has in the Judo Federation of Montenegro.”

Following proposals from Electoral Assembly delegates, the following individuals were elected to the Board of Directors for the upcoming mandate:

Delegates also adopted the work report for 2025 and approved financial reports for the previous year, completing the formal business of the General Assembly.
