KEEPING THE MOMENTUM IN RIGA

Riga Cadet European Cup 2023

KEEPING THE MOMENTUM IN RIGA

Right off the back of the successful Cadet European Cup in Berlin, the youngest of the European Tour are heading to Riga, Latvia.

This is the second edition of the event for the Latvian hosts, who, following a prime event in 2019 have been a regular fixture on the tour for both cadet and senior athletes. This weekend, the cadets will compete in the two-day event on the 21st and 22nd of October.

One athlete who has stepped up recently is Polish judoka, Zuzanna BANASZEWSKA in the +70kg category. Following bronze success in the Cadet World Championships held in Zagreb, she has once again taken a continental cup gold last week and will be looking to repeat the win on day two in Riga. Last year she managed to secure a silver but given her recent achievements, gold will be the medal she is after.

Another likely to be topping the medal podium is Patricia TOMANKOVA (SVK) in the -44kg category. Already this year she succeeded in the cadet hat-trick, European, EYOF and World champion, but she is continuing still as a cadet a weight class above the -40kg, before she starts her bid as a junior, which started well in Kaunas with a gold win.
