KICK-OFF FOR CONGRESS WEEKEND

EJU Ordinary Congress

KICK-OFF FOR CONGRESS WEEKEND

Europe’s judo family is meeting this weekend for the 76th EJU ORDINARY CONGRESS in Budapest. A total of 138 delegates from 49 countries are expected to attend. The event kicked off on Friday with a three-hour meeting of the Executive Committee under the leadership of President László TOTH. The seven new Executive Committee members scheduled for election on Saturday (Gévrise Emane/FRA, Juan Carlos Barcos Nagore/ESP, Branislav Crnogorac/BIH, David Kevkhishvili/GEO, Giuseppe Matera/ITA, Teodor Adrian Pop/GER, Ivan Todorov/SRB – in alphabetical order) were invited as guests.
The forthcoming congress and the final preparations were naturally the main topic of the meeting. For Otto KNEITINGER, Vice President Marketing, it was the last meeting after 25 years on the EJU Executive Committee (as Vice President, Consultant and Interim President).
Planning for the 2025 event calendar also set the tone. As it will be the case this year, more than 100 EJU events are planned for the coming season. In the Olympic year, 99 events have been organised so far, with two still to come.
The highlights of the EJU calendar year, alongside the IJF World Championships from 13 to 20 June in Budapest, are traditionally the six European Judo Championships. NEW: The European Judo Championships Seniors in Podgorica (MNE) will take place over five days for the first time. The individual competitions (14 weight categories, 7 each for women and men) will be held from 23 to 26 April, followed by the mixed team competition on the final competition day.
